Ten Awesome Things to see & do in  East Gippsland

More on The Jam For East Gippsland is coming soon, but in the meantime, here's some ways you can enjoy East Gippsland and help our economy at the same time...

1. - Visit Metung.
Metung is hands down, the jewel in the crown of East Gippsland, and one of Australia’s best kept secrets.
A picturesque waterfront village with a waterfront pub, a unique peninsula with some of Australia’s only dual waterfront properties poking out into an inland waterway that’s twice the size of Sydney Harbour but surrounded by wilderness.
We could probably do a top 10 list for Metung alone, but seeing as you could do most of these things in a day, we’ll list it here and make it a top ten list inside a top ten list.

  • 1. 1 - Visit the Metung Farmers Market
    The Metung Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday of each month from 8:30am to 12:30pm on the Waterfront Village Green in the centre of the Metung Village. The Farmers Market offers a wide selection of local products and food.

Regular Stalls include:

* Homemade Chocolates

* Goats Cheese

1.2 - Walk the Metung foreshore, amazing walking tracks and  Australia's longest boardwalk!

It's an Instagrammer's dream come true, a well kept secret here to be discovered and shown off, and for a tiny little town, Metung punches well above it weight for photo opportunities.

Look in just about any direction here and there’s stunning beauty. From the majesty of an inland waterway two and a half times the size of Sydney Harbour, to Victoria’s longest boardwalk on Bancroft bay, to other tracks taking you to cliff-top walks with million dollar views at Tambo Bluff, Lake King, Tambo Bay, Tambo River, Nyerimilang and Kalimna West.

1.3 - Relax a day Spa and 'soon to be built' Metung Hot Springs...
I

What better place to relax than a town that you drive along a river to enter, that's built on a peninsula, surrounded by lakes, that's surrounded by wilderness, fringed by Australia's longest beach!
Relax ay Abayda Day spa or book your own masseur at McMillan's, The Moorings or one of many unique accommodation venues or Air BnB's, with dual lake frontage, Bancroft bay in the front yard and Lake King over the back fence. Sunrises over water in one direction, sunsets over water in the other direction... What is this magical place?
But wait...
And if you think it's great now, wait until The Metung hot Springs opens in late 2020, the same people behind the Peninsula Hot Springs are set to launch this amazing project, with Spa rooms built on piers jutting out into lake King, an entertainment amphitheatre, and hot springs pools dotted along the shore.
But don't wait, East Gippsland needs you now!
